A Mere Imitation

My eyes lingered a little too long, upon that unknown person,
because of the way he looked like you,
At least from a distance

Something in his posture,
Or in the way that he dressed,
Or could it simply be
That I've been deprived of you for so long,
That I've started seeing you everywhere?

No, there was something missing in him,
He lacked your grace and your elegance,
And so my heart knew,
It was not you,
But my eyes wished it were true
