Oh, my inconstant lover

Oh, my inconstant lover,
Changing as rapidly as a river,
Like the phases of the moon,
The force of my passion is too much for you

For my heart is young,
A newly unfurling flower in the spring,
I know nothing
But how to adore you
With the million serenades I sing

And your heart is old,
It has felt love before,
There's a roughness in your hands,
And in your eyes a pain
That I don't understand

Oh, my inconstant lover,
Somedays you push me away,
But I don't waiver,
They say that I should leave you,
They know nothing
About how my heart is large enough
To love you in all your different masks

Oh, my inconquerable lover,
An elusive deer that could never be caught by a hunter,
Even when you say you're mine, you act free,
Even though you love me, you do as you please,

And since all I know is how to adore you,
I'll accept all your words of love as true
