River-sylphs,
Protect the mournful lady,
Who sits by you and cries,
As though her life is over,
Her head drooping,
Her hair like weeping willow branches,
For she was so terribly wrong,
and she can not be forgiven
by anything earthly now,
Or else let her drown,
With guilt in her heart weighing more than the rocks in her pockets
