Hopeful dream

 Others linger on phrases like

“Singing sands” and “wine-dark sea,”

Speaking of places like Venice and Shangdu,

Mystical lands I’d give up to have you,

I wish I could have seen

That unforgettable onyx-eyed beauty

One last time,

Before setting off on my journey,

Insisting that you passed

Some trinket into my hand

So that I could remember

That you were not a dream
